Job summary

Fort Worth ISD is seeking a Senior Executive Director for Cybersecurity to oversee district-wide governance of cybersecurity, data governance, AI governance and E-Rate compliance.

The role will build and monitor an enterprise information security and IT risk management programme, run risk assessments, and own vendor/third-party risk, incident response and penetration testing. It also covers AI ethics, staff training, and compliance with FERPA, COPPA and E-Rate rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred.
• CISSP preferred.
• 10 years progressively responsible technology leadership.
• Cybersecurity, data governance and E-Rate experience required.
• K-12 public education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Fort Worth ISD is hiring a Senior Executive Director for Cybersecurity, reporting to the Deputy Superintendent for District Operations. This is the district's senior technology risk role. It owns cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and IT support services for one of the largest school districts in Texas, across every campus and service centre.

What makes this posting unusual is how much governance sits inside it. The district has written four distinct programmes into one job: cybersecurity, data governance, AI governance and ethics, and E-Rate compliance. The successful candidate will build and monitor an enterprise information security and IT risk management programme, run the risk assessment process, own vendor and third party risk, lead penetration testing and incident response, and report on the security programme to senior leadership and the audit committee.

The AI governance language is explicit rather than decorative. The role is asked to identify and mitigate AI related risks including bias, ethics and security, to set AI strategy and architecture, and to run district wide training on responsible AI use for staff, students and administrators. Compliance obligations named in the posting include FERPA, COPPA and the FCC's E-Rate rules.

Required: a bachelor's degree, with a master's preferred, and ten years of progressively responsible technology leadership covering cybersecurity, data governance and E-Rate or an equivalent federal funding programme. CISSP preferred. K-12 public education experience preferred. 239 duty days, exempt, open until filled.
