Job summary

The State of Washington's Department of Revenue is seeking an Excise Tax Examiner 4 in the Taxpayer Account Administration, based in Tumwater with teleworking options and flexible work schedules. You will lead financial examinations, assess tax liabilities, and guide program interpretation for Streamline Sales Tax.

Preferred candidates bring strong research and analytical skills, and have experience preparing determinations and notices.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to independently research, interpret and apply excise tax laws.
• Experience preparing notices, amended assessments and other legal documents.
• Ability to deliver training and presentations to staff.

Responsibilities

• Independently resolves full scope of financial examinations for tax liabilities.
• Review credits and testing for Streamline Sales Tax and BRMS programs.
• Provide guidance on compliance and filing requirements to stakeholders.
• Identify, review, and complete monthly tax filings for nexus accounts.
• Perform complex analysis and adjustments across multiple taxpayer accounts.
