Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to handle Excess Liability and Commercial Umbrella accounts, with a nationwide producer base and a focus on Middle Market to national commercial accounts. The role balances disciplined risk assessment with productive relationship management.

The ideal candidate will bring 6–10 years of casualty underwriting experience, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a willingness to travel to visit agents and brokers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 6–10 years of casualty underwriting experience.
• Experience in Excess Liability and Commercial Umbrella underwriting.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel (overnight travel 10–50%).

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting of new and renewal Excess and Umbrella business.
• Analyze complex risk exposures to determine coverage and pricing.
• Manage complex renewals, endorsements, and policy modifications.
• Gather underwriting information from loss histories and third-party data.
• Communicate underwriting strategies to internal teams and partners.
• Build strong partnerships with agents, brokers, and claims teams.
