Job summary

SAE International is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded manager to lead conference production, marketing, and sales for flagship events. You will own the P&L, drive attendance and sponsorship growth, and shape strategic plans for future expansion.

Based in Warrendale, PA, this hybrid role requires coordinating with operations, sales, and content teams to deliver high-impact conferences and expositions. Travel to managed events will be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of experience in event production or management with direct revenue accountability.
• Demonstrated track record of growing event attendance and revenue.
• Strong commercial instincts with focus on audience experience and brand health.
• Managing budgets, forecasts, and margin analysis.
• Ability to build trust with sponsors, partners, speakers, and internal teams.
• Driving change and continuous improvement without always having direct authority over every function involved.

Responsibilities

• Own the P&L for an assigned event or portfolio of events, including budget, revenue targets and profit margin.
• In concert with sales and marketing managers, set attendance and revenue targets, develop promotion and sales strategy, and manage relationships with key accounts and speakers.
• Research and build the plan/go-to-market strategy for each event, evaluating opportunities like new tracks, co-located events, partnerships, expansion, or format changes.
• Partner with content developers to craft session topics/themes, recruit speakers, and write sales briefs to help sell sponsorships and attendance.
• Continuously track competitor events, industry trends, and attendee feedback to identify risks and opportunities for the portfolio.
• Set goals for attendee acquisition and retention with the marketing team; monitor registration pacing and adjust tactics.
• Serve as primary relationship owner for industry stakeholders, advisory committees, tentpole speakers, and exhibitors/sponsors.
• Coordinate with operations teams to ensure onsite experience aligns with strategic vision and manage VIP relationships.
• Use post-event feedback and data to inform the following year’s strategy.
