Job summary

Sumitomo Electric's client in Troy, MI is seeking a Senior Vehicle CAE Durability Engineer on a contract basis. You will lead CAE simulations for BIW, HV battery structure, and full-vehicle durability, mentoring engineers and shaping CAE methods in a startup-paced environment.

You will use nCode DesignLife, Optistruct/NASTRAN, ANSA and HyperWorks to build models, post-process results, and drive design improvements, ensuring correlation with test data and vehicle targets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of automotive structures CAE experience with full-vehicle durability analysis.
• Hands-on with nCode, Optistruct/NASTRAN, ANSA, and HyperWorks.
• Experience with random vibration analysis and RLDA/4-poster test planning.
• Strong mentoring and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAE durability simulations for BIW, HV battery, and full vehicle structures.
• Build and debug full-vehicle durability models using ANSA and HyperMesh.
• Post-process results with nCode/HyperWorks and recommend design changes.
• Conduct multiple iterations to meet vehicle-level performance targets.
• Support testing activities and correlate CAE with RLDA and 4-poster data.
• Present technical reports and collaborate with design, manufacturing and suppliers.
