Job summary

MACHINE LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES LLC in Lansing, MI is seeking a Senior ETL/BI Developer to join a cross-functional data team for 24 months with possible extension. The role requires expertise in ETL, data warehousing, BI reporting, and dashboards, with experience in Snowflake and Databricks.

You will collaborate with business users and IT staff, design data models, ensure data quality, and contribute to disaster recovery and security test plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical study.
• 6+ years creating Data Warehouse BI applications including ETL/data mart development, reporting, dashboards and delivery systems.
• Experience bridging ETL and BI tasks in cross-functional settings; Snowflake and Databricks experience preferred.
• 2+ years in Child Welfare Services or related domain experience.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally between ETL and BI tasks to deliver data solutions.
• Collaborate with analysts and business users to clarify requirements and develop data models.
• Design and optimize data pipelines, data reconciliation, and reporting performance.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and test plans for production systems.
• Assist with architecture, DBA collaboration, and documentation updates.
• Provide end-user training and knowledge transfer where needed.

Summary

• Please note, manager wants to ensure the ideal candidate can work in a cross functional capacity between ETL and BI tasks. Those with experience in Snowflake and Databricks should be successful in this role.
• 2+ Years Child Welfare Services, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile services, or other related experience
• SQL Assistant/Teradata Studio Experience, BI applications

• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.
• Meet with users for clarification and elaboration as may be necessary to clearly define a problem and conceptualize a development plan.
• Recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and devise solutions and alternatives and make appropriate recommendations.
• Experience working with Data Modelers and developers, facilitating modification of the logical design to create a physical design most suited to the reporting needs of the customer.
• Ability to design applications taking into consideration data reconciliation, (to the source system) query/reporting performance, and analytical business value.
• With the Business Analyst, presents the information gathered to the Project Review Board and/or Project Sponsors during project review meetings, project workgroups and to the Technical Review Board providing clarification and answers to questions.
• Consult with agency clients to explain complex IT processes and solutions, developing and maintaining an effective communication plan with DTMB and agency clients relating to project level metrics, bureau level project reporting, etc.
• Assist Architect or DBA to draft technical database model that:
  • Complies with audit separation of duty requirement.
  • Captures requirements of data elements
  • Designs data elements to best meet application needs
  • Reviews and approves updates to systems documentation.
• Gather, review, and analyze potential impacts of changes and inform DTMB management and supported client agency of impact and risks to existing IT solutions due to proposed legislation, enhancement requests, changes in government requests, changes in governmental processes or procedures.
• Provide professional technical expertise to the DTMB AS PMO Managers and client agency managers and supervisors in IT project estimating, and budgeting.
• Serves as a team lead and resource, directing the code development, providing advice and guidance to other development staff.
• Evaluate and identify opportunities for programming process or tools standardization.
• Perform disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Provide input to procedures and ensure proper change management for all requested fixes to production systems.
• Review and approve test plans. Incorporate all levels of security, which were identified as system requirements, into test plans.
