Job summary

The Bachrach Group seeks a Senior Estimator for Tunnel or Underground projects in Houston, TX. You will lead estimating efforts for trenchless and tunneling work, manage complex bids, and coordinate with design-build teams across the US.

Candidates should have a strong background in civil engineering, 10+ years of estimating, and 3+ years as a lead estimator, with a track record in large-scale, high-value projects.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a technical field.
• Equivalent experience considered.
• 10+ years estimating projects, cost control, and engineering for underground tunnels.
• 3+ years leading Estimating teams in design-build environments.
• Experience in full estimating, complex bids for trenchless/tunneling.
• Bid/proposal management with an estimating staff across the US.
• Bid across US projects averaging $500M per estimate.
• Budgeting for scope including subcontracts and labor.
• Business development and project pursuit decision making.
• Identify and mitigate risk from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the bid/proposal process with an estimating staff in a design-build firm.
• Prepare technical, complex bids for trenchless and tunneling projects.
• Manage multiple estimates across the US; uphold schedule and quality.
• Assume financial responsibility for estimating and budgeting.
• Drive business development and project pursuit activities.
• Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks from concept through delivery.
• Provide technical leadership on tunneling topics including microtunneling and shafts.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for bid packages.

• 10+ years estimating projects, cost control, & engineering using machines in the construction of underground tunnels
• 3+ years working as a Lead Estimator
• Full estimating, prepare technical, complex bids for full services specializing in trenchless/tunneling
• Manage the bid/proposal preparation with an estimating staff in a design build firm
• Bid/manage multiple estimates across the US averaging $500M per estimate
• Financial responsibility, estimating and budgeting for the scope of the project including sub-contractp bid packages and labor
• Business development, project pursuit andkey decision making related to project acceptance
• Identify and mitigate risk from concept to delivery, ability to resolve complex issues
• Technical expertise of structural concrete, paving, micro tunneling, shafts and conventional tunneling
• Strong communications skills at all levels, verbal, written, presentation and reporting
• OSHA Training
