Job summary

Rosendin Electric, Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead bid preparation and cost estimating for electrical construction projects. You will collaborate with estimators, suppliers, and customers to finalize accurate estimates and competitive proposals.

The role requires strong experience with estimation software and CAD tools, plus the ability to mentor junior staff. This on-site position offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including ESOP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with estimation software and a proven track record in bidding on electrical projects.
• Proficiency with CAD or 3D modeling tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimate from quantity take-off and complete estimate to printout.
• Identify key project areas for competitive estimation.
• Review drawings, specs, and attend pre-bid meetings to define scope.
• Maintain backup documents for estimate figures.
• Develop labor productivity and unit costs based on site data.
• Prepare detailed material/equipment listings and obtain quotes.
• Solicit quotes from suppliers/subcontractors and manage deadlines.
• Draft scope/proposal letters for bids and negotiated projects.
• Provide detailed scope/technical review to Chief Estimator prior to bid release.
• Explain job scope and pricing during project turnover for smooth transition.
• Maintain and update Rosendin estimating program files.
• Estimate all types of projects and coordinate group efforts.
• Mentor Estimators and meet customer needs.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and completing bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The Senior Estimator is the Lead Estimator for projects and works with other Estimators, suppliers, and customers to complete the estimate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimate from quantity take-off on project and complete estimate to computer printout.
• Identify parts of project that may be key to making a competitive estimate.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
• Develop labor productivity and (installation unit costs where applicable) based on projected site conditions and historical data.
• Prepare detailed listing of material and equipment items for the estimate and to obtain quotes.
• Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and be responsible for soliciting quotes. Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
• Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
• Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
• After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with the Project Management departments to fully explain job scope, potential areas of attention and other aspects for the successful transition of the project.
• Maintain files of all working documents to back-up estimate figures and update the Rosendin approved estimating program.
• This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

Qualifications

• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
• Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred
• Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

TRAVEL:

Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. it can be loud on a job site.
