Job summary

Rosendin Electric, Inc. in Minnesota seeks a Senior Estimator to lead bid and cost estimation for electrical construction projects.

You will prepare estimates from take-offs, review specs and drawings, and coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors and project teams to deliver competitive bid packages. This role requires proficiency with Accubid, LiveCount Cloud, Bluebeam, CAD or 3D software, and a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is required.
• Experience with estimating software and CAD/3D tools is preferred.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimate from quantity take-off and complete the estimate for the bid package.
• Identify key project items to ensure competitive estimates.
• Review proposal specs and drawings; attend pre-bid meetings to define scope.
• Maintain backup data for estimates and update estimating program.
• Develop labor productivity and unit costs based on site conditions and historical data.
• Prepare detailed listing of materials and equipment and solicit quotes from suppliers/subcontractors.
• Draft scope/letters for bid/negotiated projects and review with Chief Estimator.
• Explain job scope and pricing to Project Management during turnover; ensure smooth transition.
• Maintain and organize all working documents for future reference.
• Estimate all types of projects and mentor other estimators.
• Identify and meet customer needs and requirements.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and completing bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The Senior Estimator is the Lead Estimator for projects and works with other Estimators, suppliers, and customers to complete the estimate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimate from quantity take-off on project and complete estimate to computer printout.
• Identify parts of project that may be key to making a competitive estimate.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
• Develop labor productivity and (installation unit costs where applicable) based on projected site conditions and historical data.
• Prepare detailed listing of material and equipment items for the estimate and to obtain quotes.
• Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and be responsible for soliciting quotes. Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
• Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
• Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
• After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with the Project Management departments to fully explain job scope, potential areas of attention and other aspects for the successful transition of the project.
• Maintain files of all working documents to back-up estimate figures and update the Rosendin approved estimating program.
• This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

Qualifications

• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
• Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred
• Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

TRAVEL:

Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. it can be loud on a job site.
