Job summary

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. in Lyndhurst, VA is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead complex industrial refrigeration cost assessment for construction and aftermarket projects.

You will partner with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Aftermarket teams to build accurate, competitive estimates and support proposals. The role emphasizes mentoring junior estimators, developing estimating standards, and driving process improvements while aligning costs with project execution

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience in industrial construction or related fields.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of accurate, competitive estimates for industrial refrigeration construction and aftermarket projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, bid documents, scopes of work, and other technical information to understand project requirements and develop costs.
• Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, manufacturing, and installation estimates.
• Develop estimates across a range of project types, including new construction, system expansions, retrofits, replacements, upgrades, and aftermarket projects.
• Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Construction, and Aftermarket teams to ensure estimates are accurate and aligned with execution.
• Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, scope gaps, and opportunities to improve value for customers.
• Review vendor/subcontractor pricing to ensure proposals are competitive and complete.
• Support Business Development during proposal preparation, bid reviews, and customer discussions.
• Ensure estimates align with pricing strategies, execution capabilities, and profitability goals.
• Maintain organized estimating files, supporting documentation, and historical project information.
• Develop and improve estimating standards, templates, tools, and best practices.
• Build and maintain historical cost information to improve estimating accuracy over time.
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and collaboration across departments.
• Mentor and support future estimators as the estimating function grows.
• Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and developing future estimating team members.
• Partner with leadership to shape continued development and scalability of estimating function.
