Job summary

NorthStar Energy Services, based in Channelview, TX, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The role focuses on estimating for industrial projects in the Oil & Gas midstream and downstream sectors, with emphasis on mechanical and piping, as well as civil and structural work.

The Senior Estimator will develop accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects, requiring strong knowledge of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with emphasis on mechanical/piping scopes.
• Proven experience estimating midstream and downstream Oil & Gas projects (terminals, plants, pipelines, facilities).
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies.
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals.
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetings.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks.
