Job summary

Flowtec Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator in Chicago to lead the estimating process for commercial interior and high-end interior construction projects. You will prepare detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and bid proposals, and review drawings for scope and constructability.

You will evaluate subcontractor proposals, collaborate with architects and owners in preconstruction, and identify value engineering opportunities and risks while developing budgets and cost projections.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Strong background in commercial interiors/tenant build-outs.
• Experience with high-end finishes and complex interior scopes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor scopes, pricing, and Chicago costs.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Experience working through the full preconstruction process.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts from initial budgeting through final bid.
• Prepare detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents for scope and constructability.
• Solicit, level, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and project teams during preconstruction.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and potential project risks.
• Develop project budgets and cost projections.
• Assist with subcontractor scope reviews, negotiations, and buyout.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction.
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
