Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Estimator for heavy civil highway and bridge bids in the Raleigh, NC area. You will own estimates from takeoff through bid day on NCDOT projects, leading a bid team and shaping strategy.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of DOT-heavy civil estimating, strong takeoff and pricing skills, and existing NCDOT bid experience; relocation to the Raleigh area is welcome.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of heavy civil estimating with lead estimator experience on DOT bids.
• Experience in highway, bridge, earthwork, paving and drainage estimates.
• Strong takeoff and production-based pricing skills.
• Contractor-side estimating experience; not design-side cost estimating.
• NCDOT bid knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimates on heavy civil highway and bridge bids from takeoff through bid day.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications.
• Build crew, equipment and production-based cost estimates.
• Solicit, level and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Develop bid strategy, risk review and pricing with leadership.
• Attend prebid meetings and site visits.
• Track NCDOT lettings and build the bid schedule.
• Mentor junior estimators and keep the estimating database current.
• Hand awarded work to the project team with a clean budget.
• Review bid results and carry lessons into the next estimate.
