Job summary

MaineGuide in Portland, ME is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead complex and large-scale project estimates within the Estimating division. This full-time role reports to the Chief Estimator and oversees a supervisory team, guiding bid preparation, value engineering, and subcontractor coordination.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering or Construction Management at minimum
• 8+ years of experience in construction estimating
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Proficiency in specialized estimating software
• Understanding of market conditions and pricing implications

Responsibilities

• Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, and client expectations are exceeded throughout the project duration.
• Build relationships to understand client, designer and subcontractor needs and expectations.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Facilitate collaboration among team members.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor.
• Understand full project scope through review and questions to the design team.
• Prepare value engineering and risk analysis.
• Prepare qualifications and assumptions for estimates.
• Prepare cost comparisons and reconcile with previous estimates.
• Manage subcontractor solicitation and selection process.
• Prepare Exhibit B or scope sheets.
• Ensure bid and estimate quality control.
• Prepare an in-house budget and GMP.
