Job summary

Haynes Group is seeking a Senior Estimator to determine estimated costs for client projects, develop sound pricing, and evaluate bids and drawings to ensure all details are accounted for in proposals.

You will work with the Project Management team to push bids and budgets to finalization, enter data into estimating software, and foster relationships with subcontractors to obtain timely quotes. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related field; minimum four years of estimating experience.
• 5–8 years of construction estimating experience.
• Proficient with architectural plans; read, interpret, and produce sound estimates.
• Strong leadership and customer service skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Submit bids and budgets by established deadlines; enter data into Estimating software (Excel & Sage).
• Develop estimates for projects based on scope, plans, specs, and client budgets.
• Communicate bid package and clarifications to subcontractors for proper coverage.
• Perform analysis and scoping of assigned trades; coordinate with PMs.
• Attend site visits; document data to estimate costs per specs.

ItistheresponsibilityoftheSeniorEstimatortodeterminetheestimatedcostsforHaynesGrouptocompleteaprojectforaclient,establishsoundpricingforprojectsproposals.Evaluatebidspecificationsanddrawingsthoroughlytoensurealldetailsofthejobareincludedintheproposal.Communicateeffectivelyandbuildrelationshipswithvendorsandsubcontractorstoreceivetimelyandaccuratequotesformaterials,equipmentandresourcesrelatedtothejobestimate–networkingiscritical.WorkcloselywiththeProjectManagementteamstopursuebidsandbudgetstofinalizetheproposal.AllproposalsmustbereviewedbytheChiefEstimatorpriortosendingtoensureaccuracy.

ResponsibilitiesandDuties

• Submit100%ofbidsandbudgetsbyestablisheddeadline,includingtimeforChiefEstimator’sreview.EnterallrelevantinformationintoEstimatingsoftware(Excel&Sage).
• Developestimatesandbidsforpotentialprojectsapplyingthoroughunderstandingofthescopeforspecifictradesassigned.Abilityandknowledgetoassemblebidsbasedonplansandspecs,schematictestfits,designbuild,andpreliminarybudgetsbasedonclient’sdesires.
• Communicatebidpackage,RFI’s,andnecessaryclarificationstosubcontractorstoensurepropercoverageforpotentialprojects.Performcomprehensiveanalysisandscopingofassignedtrades(BuildingConnected).
• Createbidlisttofitscopeofjob,securepropersubsfortheproject,andincorporatevalue-engineeringideasonproposal.
• Solicitandfosterrelationshipswithsubcontractorsandvendorstomaximizeavailablepoolforbids.
• ReviewdrawingswithProjectManagementteamandChiefEstimatortohighlightareasofconcern.
• FollowupwithProjectManagementteamonsubmittedbidsandbudgetstohelpclosebusiness.
• Participateinhand-offandclose-outmeetings.ProvideallbiddocumentationtotheProjectManagementteam.
• Informsubcontractorsofprojectschedule,documentlongleaditems,andgaincommitmentofstrictadherence.
• Engageinprojectbuyoutandnegotiationswithsubcontractors.
• Completein-housetake-off’s,ifrequired,togatherinformationforbids.Visitprojectsite,gatherdetails,andcompiledatatoestimateallcostsaccordingtospecifications.
• Developaccurateconceptualcostmodels;understandconstructionmethods,productivity,equipment,systemsandmaterials.
• Documentandupdateinternaldatabasewithcurrentmaterialandlaborpricing.
• Coordinateandattendsitewalkthroughs.

Qualifications:
