William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is hiring an experienced Mid-Senior Estimator with extensive experience in heavy civil, highways, and roadways.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and interpret contract documents for accurate, detailed cost estimates.
- Develop preliminary budget estimates and itemized summaries for opportunity pursuits.
- Identify critical issues and develop risk exposure summaries with cost impacts.
- Provide strategic and value engineering solutions through creative thinking.
- Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Review quantity takeoff comparisons for accuracy.
- Collaborate with scheduling staff and operations to develop bid schedules.
- Present complete and accurate estimates to support decision-making.
- Represent the company at pre-bid meetings and site visits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management, or related experience.
- Minimum 5 years of heavy civil estimating experience.
- Extensive experience with earthwork and underground utilities; knowledge of PCC paving and concrete is a plus.
- Equivalent education and work experience may be considered.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of earthwork, underground drainage, sewer, watermain, and roadway construction, preferably with IDOT/INDOT experience.
- Attention to detail and organization skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing time efficiently.
- Willingness to travel for pre-bids, site visits, and meetings.
- Proficiency in Bid2Win or similar estimating software, Microsoft Office; Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD are a plus.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Work Environment
- Combination of office work and occasional site visits.
- Travel between Illinois and Indiana offices as needed.
- Site visits may require PPE and outdoor exposure.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to project sites.
