Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking a Senior Estimator for major Caltrans and California public works projects in Southern California. Lead detailed estimates for heavy civil, highway, grading, paving, and airport infrastructure, with bidding and risk assessment responsibilities.

The role requires 10+ years in heavy civil estimating, deep knowledge of Caltrans specs, and production-based estimating. You will coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams to develop competitive bids and ensure

Qualifications

10+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
Proven experience estimating Caltrans highway and California public works.
Knowledge of Caltrans specs, plans, bid requirements and standards.
Experience with production-based estimates using crews.
Ability to manage multiple estimates under bid deadlines.

Responsibilities

Lead preparation of detailed estimates and bids for large-scale heavy civil projects.
Review Caltrans specifications, plans, and contract documents.
Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, equipment, materials, subs, and indirect costs.
Develop production rates for high-volume grading, excavation, paving, and civil ops.
Coordinate with DBE/UDBE subcontractors to meet public works requirements.
Support bid reviews and final pricing strategy with senior management.
Coordinate handoffs with Project Managers and operations teams.
