Job summary

Employbridge in Tulsa is seeking a Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil Road Construction to manage detailed cost estimates for asphalt, concrete, earthwork, and utilities. Role Description

The Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil Road Construction is a full-time, on-site position based in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for road, paving, and heavy civil construction projects, including quantity take-offs, labor and equipment costing, and material pricing.

The Senior Estimator reviews plans and specifications, analyzes subcontractor and supplier quotations, and develops competitive bids and proposals. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with project managers and engineers, participating in bid reviews, refining estimating methodologies, and maintaining current pricing and production data. The position also involves identifying cost‑saving opportunities, assessing project risks, and supporting contract negotiations to ensure accurate and timely estimate submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for heavy civil, roadway, and infrastructure projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs from plans and specifications.
• Analyze labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and supplier costs.
• Develop accurate and competitive bid proposals.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the estimating process.
• Participate in bid review meetings and project handoff activities.
• Maintain current databases for pricing, production rates, and historical costs.
• Evaluate project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
• Support contract negotiations and preconstruction planning efforts.
• Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in heavy civil and road construction estimating, including asphalt, concrete, earthwork, utilities, and related scopes.
• Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
• Several years of experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within heavy civil, roadway, or infrastructure construction.
• Prior field construction experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of local regulations, permitting processes, and industry standards within the Tulsa Metropolitan Area and surrounding markets.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
