Job summary

Stamford Forge LLC is seeking an experienced estimator for structural steel and miscellaneous metals. Responsibilities include reviewing specs and drawings, preparing detailed cost estimates, and coordinating with buyers, PMs, and clients to ensure accurate, timely bids.

The candidate should have hands-on ironworking experience and an interest in expanding into estimating and project coordination, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and budget adherence.

Responsibilities

• Review project specs, drawings, and scope to determine materials, labor, and time for structural steel and misc metals.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, subcontractor bids, and overhead.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project needs and scope.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.
• Analyze bid documents and identify risks; suggest alternatives or cost-saving measures.
• Maintain and update cost databases for materials and labor to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
• Provide value engineering solutions to meet budget while maintaining quality and safety.
• Assist in bid proposals and client presentations.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to determine the materials, labor, and time requirements for structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including material quantities, labor costs, subcontractor bids, and overhead costs.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project needs and scope.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.
• Analyze bid documents and determine potential risks, as well as suggest alternatives or cost‑saving measures.
• Maintain and update cost databases for materials and labor to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
• Provide value engineering and alternative solutions to meet budget constraints while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and presentations to clients.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Track project progress and update estimates as changes occur during the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials and services to the job site.
• Assist in identifying project scope changes and their potential impact on costs and timelines.
