Job summary

cacindinc is looking for an experienced Estimator for heavy civil projects in New York City. You will prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and develop bid pricing, ensuring deadlines are met with high accuracy and professionalism.

Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, possess strong estimating capabilities, and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. We offer competitive benefits including health insurance and retirement plans.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate bid pricing for heavy civil projects
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to fully understand project scope and requirements
• Build, maintain, and update labor, material, and equipment cost data (HCSS)
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor quotations
• Develop pricing for bids, alternates, and change orders
• Review estimates for constructability, risk, and value-engineering opportunities
• Support and lead proposal submissions, including design-build pursuits
• Develop and manage bid schedules, ensuring all milestones are met
• Maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience and 7+ years in construction overall
• Strong understanding of contracts, bid processes, and insurance requirements
• Experience bidding with NYC agencies and within the tri-state market
• Design-build experience is a plus
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting heavy civil drawings and specifications
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience with HCSS, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and/or B2W preferred
• Familiarity with subcontractor scopes and vendor coordination
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to perform under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
