Job summary

## Senior EstimatorApply: Los Angeles, CA: Full time: Posted 30+ Days Ago: JR1000437The Senior Estimator position prepares detailed cost estimates for proposed new construction projects involving both competitive bid and negotiated type work. This position manages and performs a variety of estimating duties including quantity take- offs, database input, coordination of bid documents for distribution to Subcontractors, and research of product data and suppliers. Extensive knowledge of constructions costs and the ability to support the overall activities of the Preconstruction team are imperative.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Leads the estimating team to prepare detailed quantity take-offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs. Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing. Create bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow.* Reviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determine both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.* Collaborates and leads a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and Webcor employees.* Actively participates in all design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design.* Involves the subject matter experts within the organization to provide feedback directly to owners and architects during the design process to enhance the cost, schedule, quality, and constructability of a project.* Takes a leadership role with managing relationships with owners and architects.* Develops conceptual estimates at a strategic level.* Creates strong relationships with the local subcontractor market.* Compiles cost data received for subcontractors for Webcor Estimators. Examines data as it is being received for both accuracy and sufficiency before completing the final estimate.* When preliminary cost estimates exceed the owner’s expected budget, works with architects and owners in a value-engineering role. Assists in exploring a multitude of architectural alternatives; then pricing the alternatives that offer the greatest opportunity for cost savings. Solicits input via the Webcor team to identify cost-savings alternatives as needed.* Assists in maintaining and updating the master subcontractor list for all trades.* Leads, develop, motivates and more junior team members as required.* Peer reviews work for accuracy. The repetitive motion using hands with constant keyboarding and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents. Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine). Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 15 pounds.
