Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare and defend cost estimates for hospitality, healthcare, data centers, and commercial projects across the public and private sectors. You will develop take-offs, review project documentation, and collaborate with team members to ensure profitable bids.

Ideal candidates bring a strong background in piping/plumbing design, 7–10 years of related experience, and proficiency with estimating software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent training.
• 7–10 years of commercial MEP engineering, project management, plumbing installation, and/or estimating.
• Experience with takeoffs and estimating processes.

Responsibilities

• Craft quantified take-offs using Auto Bid Mechanical estimating software.
• Determine scope of work by reviewing RFPs, specs, and drawings for estimates.
• Analyze and compare subcontractor bids and troubleshoot issues.
• Partner with Chief Estimator to finalize estimates and defend cost accuracy.

Position Summary

The positionis responsible forestimating bids for various marketsincluding;hospitality, healthcare, data centers, commercial, institutional, municipal, and other projects in the public and privatesector.

Position Details

• Craft quantified take-offs using Auto Bid Mechanical (formerly Quick Pen) Estimating software.
• Determinethe scope of work andrequiredcontents of the estimate by reviewing RFP’s, specifications, basis of design and drawings; then developing estimates for small to medium-sized projects independently and contributing to large project estimates as part of a team.
• Analyze and compare subcontractor/supplier bids and proactively troubleshoot project issues before they occur.
• Partner with the Chief Estimator tofinalizeestimate reports to evaluate job costs andprofitability;as well as provide a clear defense of your estimate support andits accuracy.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Piping/Plumbing design, experience in preparing take-offs, knowledge of industry equipment and system operations.We’redesign, build, mechanical -it’swhat we do!
• ABachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Managementand/or equivalent technical training.
• 7-10 years of commercial MEP engineering, project management,plumbinginstallation, and/or estimatingisrequired.
• Quickpenexperience is a plus.
