Your Next Opportunity

The Senior Estimator leads the preparation of bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role involves working with estimators, suppliers, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare estimates based on quantity take-offs and project specifications.
• Identify key parts of projects for competitive bidding.
• Review proposals, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope.
• Evaluate potential value engineering opportunities.
• Lead and mentor estimating team members.
• Maintain documentation supporting estimate figures.
• Develop labor and installation unit costs based on site conditions and data.
• Compile material and equipment lists and solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure timely submission of all client-required documents.
• Draft scope and proposal letters for bids and negotiations.
• Review bid scope and pricing with the Chief Estimator before submission.
• Assist in project transition post-bid, explaining scope and potential issues.
• Maintain accurate files and update estimating software.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong arithmetic and estimating skills.
• Experience estimating various project types and supervising teams.
• Mentoring and development skills for estimators.
• Customer-focused approach to meet expectations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, etc.
• Ability to prioritize, adapt, and work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated team player.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 4 years of estimating experience.
• Experience with specific software preferred.

Travel & Working Conditions

• Up to 10% travel.
• Primarily indoor work with varying environmental conditions.
• Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
