Job summary

Serac in Illinois is seeking a Manufacturing Estimator & Buyer for mechanical components and assemblies. You’ll read drawings, break parts into materials, operations, setup time, machine time, and labor hours to build should-cost estimates and use them to challenge supplier quotes and cut cost.

This is an on-site role in Carol Stream. You’ll analyze RFQ packages, review BOMs and routings for manufacturability, interpret complex GD&T, propose alternate processes or designs, manage suppliers and

Qualifications

• Hands-on manufacturing experience — you've quoted, estimated or produced real parts.
• Expert drawing / GD&T interpretation.
• Job-costing / should-cost fluency.
• 7–10+ years in manufacturing — an Estimator, Machinist, Manufacturing/Process Engineer or CNC Programmer background is ideal.

Can you read a drawing and know what the part should cost to make?

We want a buyer who thinks like a shop estimator — someone who breaks a part down by material, operations, setup, machine time and labor hours, builds a should-cost, and uses it to challenge supplier quotes and cut cost. We'll teach the purchasing side; you bring the manufacturing and estimating expertise.

Salary range: $91,100–$110,400
