Job summary

James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS) seeks a Senior Estimating Manager to lead the bid process for commercial construction projects in Maryland. You will coordinate with internal teams to ensure RFP compliance and deliver competitive estimates.

The role requires seven years in estimating for commercial construction and at least two years of managing estimators, with strong leadership and communication skills to guide project teams and client presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in estimating for commercial construction and at least two (2) years managing estimators.
  • Experience leading the bidding process for multiple complex projects across various building types.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bid assembly on large, complex pursuits.
  • Apply deep understanding of trades (divisions 2, 15, 16) to estimating.
  • Maintain trade partner and supplier relationships for business decisions.
  • Lead project meetings and client presentations.
  • Provide oversight to engineers and estimators on risk, VE, constructability and pricing feedback.

Senior Estimating Manager

Lead the overall management of the bid process for commercial construction projects, ensuring compliance with RFPs and coordinating with internal teams.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in estimating for commercial construction and at least two (2) years managing estimators
  • Experience leading the bidding process for multiple complex projects across various building types
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction management, including safety, quality, constructability, and sustainability standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Technical Job Knowledge
  • Lead bid assembly on large, complex pursuits
  • Apply deep understanding of complex trades such as divisions 2, 15, and 16 to the estimating process
  • Maintain trade partner and supplier relationships, leveraging them for business decisions
  • Analyze historical data from estimates and bids for internal reviews
  • Use lessons learned from the trade partner buyout process to improve business practices and minimize risk
  • Lead project meetings and client presentations
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Estimating Managers on risk management, value engineering, constructability, and pricing feedback
  • Conduct performance reviews for junior staff

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $130,000.00 – $175,000.00. Additional compensation includes an annual incentive bonus, paid time off with annual holidays, financial benefits (401(k), Roth, ESOP), and health and wellness programs such as a 100% employer‑paid health plan, life insurance, disability benefits, HSA contribution, FSAs, fertility and family‑forming assistance, and continuing education support. Eligible employees receive a company vehicle or an auto allowance.
