Job summary

Amazon Lab126 seeks a Senior Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) Systems Design Engineer to lead system-level ESD design for consumer electronics within the Centralized Electrical Engineering (CEE) organization.

You will own ESD design from concept through verification, collaborating with Mechanical Product Design, Electrical Engineering, and Software teams to meet stringent immunity requirements and reliability standards. This role emphasizes physics of ESD failures and robust protection strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• 7 years or experience or Bachelors degree with at least 10 years of experience.
• Experience in system-level ESD design for consumer electronic device.
• Knowledge of ESD failure mechanisms of electronic devices and ICs.
• Simulation experience in ESD and/or EMI, signal integrity.
• Experience in system-level ESD testing and measurement techniques.
• Experience in 3D electromagnetic fields simulation and circuit analysis tools.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design such as low power circuit, audio circuit, processor architecture, memories, RF integration, and various communications protocols (I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S).
• Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout using common tools (Orcad, Allegro).

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze ESD protection for consumer products.
• System-level ESD testing for troubleshooting.
• Evaluation and selection of system-level ESD protection devices.
• Drive existing system-level ESD simulation methodology to the next level to address current and future design challenges.
• Electromagnetic and circuit-level modeling of electronic devices for system-level ESD simulations.
• Work with cross-functional team during architecture, design and validation phase.
