Job summary

Service Wire Company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop, enhance, and maintain the QAD ERP system using Progress 4GL/OpenEdge. You will lead feature design, customizations, and API development to ensure seamless integration with other systems.

You will also manage Progress databases, provide mentorship to junior developers, and collaborate with stakeholders. The role requires strong knowledge of QAD ERP, Linux/Unix, and Agile/Scrum, with a manufacturing background preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Deep understanding of QAD ERP systems, including EE and Adaptive modules.
• Expertise in managing and optimizing Progress databases with focus on performance and security.
• Advanced knowledge of QAD .Net UI, Qxtend integration, and eB2.0 framework preferred.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments and familiarity with cloud-based ERP solutions.
• Experience with additional languages (e.g., Java, SQL) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain the QAD ERP system.
• Lead design and implementation of new features, modules, and customizations to meet business needs.
• Manage Progress databases, including design, tuning, backups, and security.
• Lead or support integration of QAD ERP with internal and external systems; develop and maintain APIs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and mentor junior developers and end-users.
• Identify opportunities for system improvements; stay current with Progress and ERP trends.
