Job description

Full-time position available with the Water Department, Wastewater Treatment Division located at 7300 Hawthorne.

Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday; 6:30 am-3:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Performs safe and efficient operations of heavy construction equipment entailing considerable manipulative difficulty in operation.
• Operates such equipment as bulldozers, graders, rollers, ditching machines, dump truck and trailer, crane truck, street sweeper, front end loader, backhoe, street flusher, roll off container truck, trash truck, skid loader, track loader, swap loader, snow removal equipment, grass cutting equipment and trailer overhead cranes and clamshells and related equipment.
• Makes routine field adjustments and repairs to equipment.
• Conducts safety inspection of equipment. Must demonstrate ability to safely operate assigned equipment.
• Performs basic maintenance based on own knowledge.
• Reads operating manuals, instructions for equipment.

Qualifications

REQUIRES 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation of heavy and complex construction and maintenance equipment. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the employee's probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given to applicants with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) issued by the State of Missouri.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
