Job summary

VetJobs is seeking a Senior Equipment Assembler for the Silgan Containers facility in Waukegan, IL. The role focuses on close-tolerance assembly from blueprints, with emphasis on accuracy, BOM checks, and collaboration with engineering.

1st shift, Mon-Fri, with benefits and growth opportunities. Starting pay ranges from $25 to $35 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k match, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical experience such as production mechanic or machine shop work.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools (micrometer, vernier, calipers).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must read and write in English and communicate effectively.
• Experience with hand tools, drill press, lathe, mill, and powered lift truck.
• Welding experience in MIG, TIG, ARC, Spot; stainless steel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble machine parts to close tolerances from blueprints.
• Ensure parts are available for subassemblies by checking BOMs.
• Collaborate with engineering to verify blueprints/spec sheets.
• Gather hardware (nuts, bolts, screws) for assembly.
• Drill or saw parts when required; move machinery using lifts or dollies.
