Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a Senior Epidemiology Data Scientist to collaborate with Dr. Lilly Cheng-Immergluck’s lab on infectious disease prevention studies.

The role focuses on study design, analysis plans, mentoring junior staff, and providing programming support for research using electronic medical records. You will work across clinical and population health data, develop data products, and contribute to grant applications and manuscripts.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or health services research.
• Experience analyzing large clinical datasets from public and private health sectors.

Responsibilities

• Leads development of data products according to specifications determined through collaborative meetings with PIs and co-investigators.
• Oversees and organizes data quality control programs and maintains provenance of clinical and non-clinical data during joining and analysis of datasets.
• Applies deep understanding of biostatistical methods to analyze complex data sets for extracting and using applicable information.
• Develops and maintains infrastructure that supports data integration across sources (clinical data, biospecimens, administrative data).
• Designs and evaluates statistical models and reproducible data processing pipelines using best practices in statistical inference.
• Provides expertise for high-level data requests and engages internal resources as needed.
