Job summary

Chenega Enterprise Systems and Solutions, LLC, supports the CDC's Poxvirus and Rabies Branch (PRB) within NCEZID. The Epidemiologist III will assist with epidemiologic studies, surveillance, data management, and public health communications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to strengthen surveillance systems and inform decision-making.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Biology, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience supporting epidemiologic surveillance, public health research, or infectious disease programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, and statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, R, or equivalent analytical tools.
• Experience with database management, data analysis, and surveillance systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including scientific writing and presentation experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Design and support domestic and international surveillance systems and databases.
• Manage, maintain, and monitor surveillance and research databases for data quality and timely entry.
• Support human records management to ensure proper documentation and accessibility.
• Design, develop, and maintain databases for studies and research projects.
• Perform data collection, cleaning, validation, and quality assurance for datasets.
• Conduct statistical and epidemiologic analyses of surveillance data.
• Identify disease clusters and trends for further investigation.
• Collaborate with epidemiology staff and external partners to enhance surveillance.
• Provide technical support for database design and analytics in projects.
