Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking an Epidemiologist II to support government customers from Portsmouth, VA with full-time remote work available and a flexible hybrid arrangement. The role focuses on health surveillance, disease prevention, and data-driven decision support for active-duty service members and families.

The candidate will lead epidemiologic analyses, supervise projects, and collaborate with senior staff and external partners. A US government security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in epidemiology with biostatistics coursework or an MPH with epidemiology/biostatistics emphasis.
• Nine+ years of epidemiology experience in public health analytics, surveillance, and related fields.
• Five+ years using SAS for advanced epidemiologic analyses.
• Experience with large, complex health data sets and epidemiological methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead epidemiologic analyses using military and similar data systems to support operational decision making.
• Oversee investigations and risk factor identification to reduce disease and injury incidence.
• Develop metrics to evaluate public health programs and health outcomes.
• Ensure statistical validity and applicability of study activities; guide junior epidemiologists.
