A Brief Overview

We are looking for a highly capable Senior Environmental Technical Claims Specialist to help us on a temporary assignment through 31 August 2025, working from anywhere in the United States. If this assignment is filled in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Richmond (VA), or San Antonio, it can be considered temp-to-hire. The individual will report to a manager in New York City, focusing on adjudicating complex first and third-party commercial environmental claims (mostly storage tank claims) and contributing to excellent client results. As this is a temporary role, only government-mandated benefits will be provided.

The primary duties include:

• Adjudicating commercial environmental claims at high authority limits, reflecting high technical complexity and potential major impact on results.
• Gathering, analyzing, and investigating information to resolve complex issues.
• Reporting claims trends to senior management and underwriters.
• Reviewing claims forms, policies, endorsements, and related records to determine coverage.
• Investigating claims thoroughly, including interviewing involved parties.
• Managing claims in litigation and ensuring timely resolution.
• Setting claim reserves considering policy wording impacts.
• Analyzing data to identify loss drivers and claims trends for reduction strategies.
• Coordinating expertise resources for case resolution.
• Preparing documentation reports.
• Applying creative solutions for optimal financial outcomes.
• Negotiating effectively to provide cost-efficient solutions.
• Processing correspondence and prioritizing workload.
• Communicating with insureds, claimants, and other parties.

Core qualifications:

• Understanding of how insurance companies operate and profit, impacting both Argo and clients.
• Minimum of seven years’ experience adjudicating environmental claims over $100,000.
• Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. preferred. Related experience or insurance designations can substitute.
• Licensed Claims Examiner or ability to obtain license within 120 days.
• Excellent communication, evaluation, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
• Ability to articulate financial value and exercise discretion.
• Demonstrates integrity, resilience, and a solution-focused mindset.

• Proficiency in MS Office and fluency in English.

The salary varies by location, with specific ranges provided for Colorado, California, New York City, and San Francisco metro areas.
