Job summary

Volvo Cars in Ridgeville is seeking a Senior Environmental and Sustainability Specialist to coordinate environmental projects and minimize impact across operations, including air and water emissions, waste management, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead ISO 14001 implementation, conduct audits, train staff, and provide guidance on environmental regulatory requirements while advancing Volvo’s reputation for integrity and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering or related field; experience may substitute education.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an environmental role in automotive or manufacturing environments.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Preferred: Lead Auditor - ISO 14001.
• Knowledge of auto manufacturing industry.
• Project and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with analytical and presentation skills.
• Ability to articulate complex issues and uphold Volvo’s reputation.
• Flexible and ethical work approach.
• Proactive regulatory awareness and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and maintain environmental protection activities to ensure compliance with Volvo and regulatory requirements.
• Manage regulatory reporting to local, state, and federal agencies.
• Oversee waste contractor for safety, compliance, and cost efficiency.
• Support plant environmental champions with guidance on regulatory requirements.
• Conduct audits to ensure facility compliance.
• Provide ongoing regulatory education.
• Deliver environmental training to employees.
