Job description

As Sr. Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring and managing environmental compliance, conducting assessments, and implementing programs to minimize environmental impact. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance are met.

Our mission is to drive leading performance in EHS and Product Stewardship to protect and beautify our customers' operations and products, protect our employees, and preserve the environments in which we operate. In this role, you will be onsite at PPG's Delaware, OH facility and report to the site EHS Manager. Come join the PPG team!

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical direction in support of PPG environmental policies and strategic goals.
  • Analyzing manufacturing processes to identify environmental impacts and propose improvements.
  • Collaborating with plant management and engineering teams to integrate environmental considerations into daily operations and assess environmental risks/mitigation strategies.
  • Communicating environmental policies and procedures to employees.
  • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with environmental regulations related to air emissions, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste management, and other applicable laws.
  • Preparing and submitting required environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Developing and managing waste minimization strategies, including recycling programs.
  • Overseeing proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste, including profiling of new waste; coordinating with waste disposal contractors to ensure compliance.
  • Leading all aspects of Title V permits (including managing new permit applications), water permits (Industrial and Stormwater), Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal) for a large quantity generator.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO14001 requirements; EPCRA Reporting (SARA 312 and SARA 313) and driving continuous improvement of the environmental management process.
  • Developing leading indicators that drive continuous improvement in sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste) and spill incidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related role.
  • Familiarity with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA; experience with Title V permitting.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring and reporting tools.
