Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Project Environmental Scientist to join our established Environmental Team, based out of one of our Florida offices: Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach, or Ft. Lauderdale.

You will tackle NEPA-related permits, wetlands, habitat surveys, and environmental impact assessments on major infrastructure projects. Join a multidisciplinary group offering professional growth, leadership opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a natural/environmental field; graduate degree preferred
• Minimum 10 years of practical experience in natural environmental field and NEPA permitting
• Ability to travel to Florida offices and field sites; occasional overnight stays
• Public speaking to present findings and Q&As
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
• Strong self-management, time management, and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication; team-oriented with ability to work independently
• Ability to work in Florida’s challenging outdoor environments

Responsibilities

• Lead data collection, analysis and reporting for habitats, wildlife, water quality, soils, etc. supporting NEPA and permit applications
• Delineate wetlands per federal/state criteria; conduct protected species surveys
• Coordinate with engineering design teams to align environmental workstreams
• Direct and manage a project team including subconsultants for NEPA and permitting
• Prepare environmental impact assessments and mitigation/monitoring strategies
• Monitor schedules, scopes and budgets per project management plan
• Support business development with technical workplans and project fee estimates
• Engage in public involvement activities and liaison with regulatory agencies
