In the role of Senior Environmental Scientist, we'll count on you to:
  1. Plan and direct medium- to large-size environmental planning and compliance projects for transportation, water/wastewater, facilities, land management, and other programs as identified.
  2. Prepare, plan, and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents.
  3. Accomplish work independently and through coordinating or supervising small to large technical and professional teams from local and regional offices.
  4. Support regional or national projects in specific areas of technical expertise.
  5. Be closely involved in public participation and multiple agency coordination.
  6. Take responsibility for project management, including developing and managing budgets, schedules, and quality of products.
  7. Serve as Project Manager on larger projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of the position.
  8. Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree (preference given to local candidates)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environment Science or a closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience in complex environmental planning/compliance projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NEPA process.
  • Experience managing large, complex EIS documents for transportation, large facilities, land management, or other infrastructure projects.
  • Technical expertise in the design, implementation, interpretation, and presentation of data for environmental studies and investigations in specialized disciplines.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and research abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Staff management experience beneficial.
