Projects include environmental assessments, hydrogeological studies, subsurface investigations, human health/ecological risk assessments, remedial designs/remedial actions, and remediation system operation, maintenance, and monitoring. Clients include state and municipal agencies and private industries that share our values of environmental stewardship and technical excellence.

You will also have the opportunity to develop persuasive proposals in which you can showcase your skills and present our team’s services to potential clients. You'll be an integral part of our forward-thinking business development endeavors, ensuring our continued growth and success in the industry.

At INTERA, we understand the value of pushing boundaries and nurturing innovation. We foster a collaborative work environment where your ideas and expertise will be not only appreciated but actively encouraged. You'll be surrounded by a team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact and driven to create sustainable solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project scopes, budgets and schedules, and lead multi-disciplinary teams
  • Lead and support technical proposal preparation and business development activities
  • Communicate with clients, regulators, and public stakeholders regarding complex environmental characterization and remediation projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop reclamation and future use plans that reflect cultural values and ecological sustainability
  • Lead the development of technical documents, including remedial investigation/feasibility studies, remedial designs, and optimization studies; lead teams in the operation, maintenance and monitoring of remediation systems; and conduct functionality review of system performance at Superfund, landfill, petroleum storage tank, and industrial sites
  • Design and implement field investigations (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and non-aqueous phase liquids)
  • Support design and implementation of remediation measures for environmental sites contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, non-aqueous phase liquids, PFAS and emerging contaminants, metal or inorganic contaminants, and/or radionuclides
  • Develop site conceptual models and support risk assessments and fate and transport modeling
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients, regulators, and other interested parties
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with technical teams across the company
  • Support business development by maintaining client relationships and identifying new opportunities
Required Qualifications

  • Investigation experience using high-resolution site characterization methods
  • Solid understanding of conceptual site models, contaminant fate and transport concepts, environmental chemistry, human health and ecological risk, and models to predict contaminant migration through groundwater/surface water/vadose zone, remediation system performance, and receptor risk
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and other INTERA offices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, NMED/NMAC, EPA) and risk-based criteria
  • Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience with investigation and remediation of non-aqueous phase liquids
  • Technical and regulatory knowledge of emerging contaminants such as PFAS, ethylene dibromide, and 1,4-dioxane
  • Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, hydrogeology, geology, or a related field
  • Professional licensure
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
