Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Senior Environmental Professional who will support clients across the US with a near-term focus in the Pacific Northwest.

The position will be responsible for supporting clients with environmental strategy, compliance, and permitting, and will provide project leadership and strategic direction on environmental projects for industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. The role involves preparing, reviewing and managing environmental permits, reports and regulatory

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or scientific discipline required.
  • 8 - 13 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with waste, water, and air regulations.
  • Ability to learn state and local municipality rules and requirements is required.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in agreed upon time.
  • Ability to make and keep commitments.
  • A pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients by providing project leadership and strategy and leadership on environmental projects in the areas of compliance and permitting.
  • Lead and support environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability projects for industrial, commercial, and municipal clients.
  • Provide guidance related to air, water, waste, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Prepare, review and manage environmental permits, reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Conduct environmental assessments, audits, and site evaluations to identify compliance obligations and risks.
  • Manage client relationships, project schedules, deliverables, and technical work products.
  • Support development and implementation of environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives.
  • Perform field investigations, site inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local environmental regulations and advise on changing requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Sustainability-focused MBA preferred.
  • Experience with corporate sustainability strategy and planning preferred.
  • Experience with facility environmental program management a plus.
  • ISO14001 audit experience and certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Site visits will require use of basic tools and walking across industrial sites. This will include climbing ladders, lifting and installing monitoring equipment.
  • Requires full range of motion to support field activities.
  • Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, chemicals, etc.) for field work.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to travel and perform field work (50% or more of field work required).
  • Office based tasks will include sitting or standing at a desk using a computer and other office equipment.
  • This position is based in our Portland, OR or Seattle, WA office preferably but is open to remote candidates.
  • Work will be performed in an office, field, and client site setting.
  • Field sites can vary widely and typically require planning for various elements (winter: cold, snow, ice, spring/summer: heat, sun, rain, mud, autumn: cold, heat, sun, rain, wind mud). All seasons have the potential for insect or animal exposure in the field.
Additional Information:

Part‑time temporary position, no scheduled hours. Hours will vary based on project/client needs.

Target Salary Range:

Target salary range: $75.00/ hour to $105.00 / hour.
