Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner - Transmission to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting team in the Midwest. This hybrid role supports offices in multiple Midwest cities and focuses on transmission, grid modernization, and renewable energy permitting; you will lead projects, develop client relationships, and mentor staff.

Responsibilities include NEPA documentation, coordinating with state agencies, and growing our energy permitting portfolio across the region and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, geography, natural resources, engineering or related field.
• 6 years of relevant experience in electric transmission and renewable energy, including permitting and routing.
• Ability to travel for agency/client meetings, as needed.
• A valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental planning and compliance for energy infrastructure projects and support permitting.
• Manage early-stage due diligence for siting energy projects and related infrastructure.
• Provide project management on mid- to large-sized projects with schedules, budgets, and invoicing.
• Work on environmental documents and entitlements for energy sector projects.
• Support projects across the Midwest and other U.S. markets leveraging the national platform.
• Contribute to proposals, and mentor junior staff.
