Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Environmental FERC Project Manager to lead major natural gas pipeline, LNG, and gas storage projects in the U.S. This role focuses on navigating regulatory requirements and delivering critical infrastructure for the energy transition.

You will guide projects through planning, development, and construction while mentoring multidisciplinary teams and representing ERM in industry forums and regulatory discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Planning, Engineering, Geology, or related field is required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6+ years in environmental impact assessment and permitting for FERC-regulated projects; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience managing large-scale natural gas, LNG permitting projects and NEPA regulatory processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication with regulators, clients, and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead permitting and compliance for Natural Gas Act-regulated projects across the United States.
• Serve as strategic advisor guiding projects from planning through construction and operations.
• Direct preparation and management of FERC applications with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Provide guidance on environmental planning, permitting pathways, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop technical proposals and identify new business opportunities; maintain client relationships.
• Oversee QA/QC for environmental analyses and permit packages.
