Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer for the Cortez operation to lead closure planning, permitting and reclamation programs. You will manage site closure studies, reclamation cost models, bonds, and long-term trusts while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental or mine engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology or similar.
• Minimum 5 years in permitting, mine planning, environmental compliance or reclamation/closure.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to operate independently in small multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong computer skills and safety leadership.
• Experience with Nevada regulatory permitting is preferred.
• GIS and data interpretation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of site closure plans, including studies and mitigation for closure of inactive facilities.
• Oversee reclamation permits, cost model, bonds and long-term trusts.
• Ensure adherence to closure accounting standards and report reclamation liabilities.
• Oversee cultural resource program with archaeology consultants and authorities.
• Interpret monitoring data on water quality, geochemistry, vegetation and materials.
• Collaborate with Engineering/Mine Planning and Permitting to modify Plans of Operations and Permits.
• Communicate results to Federal and State authorities and coordinate permitting strategies.
• Participate in planning, design, budgeting and supervision of environmental compliance programs.
• Lead and develop Environmental Engineers and Technicians.
• Comply with health, safety, and company policies.
