Job description

Overview

Senior Environmental Engineer provides high-level project support and regulatory strategy for remediation and groundwater-focused projects, supporting the group's senior-level project execution and technical oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership on complex environmental projects, including Superfund and Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) sites.
  • Conduct and oversee advanced groundwater statistical analysis and hydrogeologic evaluations.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments and remedial action evaluations.
  • Support remedial design and oversee remediation implementation activities.
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda, regulatory submittals, and remediation-related implementation reports.
  • Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert on state and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients on complex project requirements.
  • Support proposal development, scope preparation, and technical budgeting.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on complex site investigations and remediation strategies.
  • Ensure all work products meet high standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in environmental site investigation, remediation, or regulatory compliance
  • FG certification required; Professional Geologist (PG) license strongly preferred or required based on state
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current refresher
  • valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Expertise in environmental regulations, risk-based remediation strategies, and project lifecycle management.
  • Advanced proficiency in field instrumentation, data interpretation, geologic modeling, and QA/QC processes
  • Proven experience leading technical teams, mentoring junior staff, and managing client relationships
  • Strong track record of writing, reviewing, and signing off on regulatory submittals, proposals, and reports.
  • Strategic thinking, project scoping, and budgeting experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Registered Geologist (RG) license in Missouri (required).
  • Designated Environmental Professional (EP).
  • Strong experience with groundwater statistical analysis and risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Superfund and Voluntary Cleanup Program projects.
  • Experience with remedial design and remediation implementation reporting.
  • Strong technical writing and regulatory communication skills.
Travel Requirements
  • This position requires infrequent travel, approximately up to 20% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements.

Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

  • This position primarily works in an office environment, with infrequent fieldwork or field visits/meetings.

  • Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.
  • Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
