Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental Services Engineering team. You will lead or support a broad range of environmental projects, including stormwater management, remediation, and design of environmental systems, with opportunities to specialize.

You will guide junior staff, prepare reports and cost estimates, manage scope, budget, schedule, and safety, and build client relationships. Travel is about 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related engineering.
• PE license.
• 7 years of environmental or civil engineering experience.
• Experience overseeing construction and strong understanding of construction methods and procedures preferred.
• Project management or assistant project management experience preferred.
• Available for travel as necessary (approximately 10% travel).
• Strong knowledge in standard environmental engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer with related experience to add to our Environmental Services Engineering team. As a professional within our Environmental Services Practice, the candidate has the opportunity to lead or support a wide variety of environmental engineering projects including stormwater management, hydraulic analyses, solid waste, remediation, sustainable solutions, design of environmental systems such as containment liners and water quality/treatment systems, and site development for buildings/facilities. The position offers the opportunity to focus in certain technical areas or practice in a variety of technical areas, manage projects, and interact with clients. This group manages long‑term clients, pursues new environmental projects and clients, and supports other departments throughout the company with environmental or civil engineering services. Our team also works closely with in‑house construction professionals on design‑build and engineer‑procure‑and‑construct (EPC) projects.

The successful candidate will be highly self‑motivated, have strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, good time‑management skills, and experience with the following:

• Providing technical solutions for environmental or civil engineering projects.
• Performing calculations using industry‑standard tools and software.
• Directing and reviewing work products prepared by junior engineering staff, which may include Preliminary Engineering Reports, Options Evaluations, Design Drawings, Calculations, Specifications, Work Plans, Construction Reports, and Cost Estimates.
• Design programs such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, MicroStation, etc.

Duties may include:

• Design of environmental systems and facilities.
