Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Senior Environmental Engineer role based in Columbia, Missouri or north of Kansas City, Missouri. The Senior Environmental Engineer will develop, implement, and oversee environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across production and specialty operations. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting environmental impact assessments, managing permitting processes, monitoring wastewater treatment and waste management activities, and preparing technical reports and documentation. The role will collaborate with plant leadership, operations teams, and external consultants to identify risks, recommend improvements, and support sustainable practices. The Senior Environmental Engineer will also provide guidance on environmental standards, lead audits and inspections, support training initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement of environmental performance.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Environmental Compliance, including regulatory interpretation, permitting, and reporting.
• Candidates should possess skills in Environmental Assessment and storm water management, including data analysis, risk evaluation, and stakeholder communication. Air permit application experience is a plus.
• Candidates should possess skills in Waste Management, including hazardous and non‑hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal practices.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Progressively responsible environmental engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, or heavy building materials sectors.
• Working knowledge of air, water, and waste regulations (e.g., EPA, state environmental agencies) and environmental management systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally and lead initiatives on‑site.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility, and relevant environmental certifications, are beneficial.
