Job summary

RSI EnTech, LLC invites a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to support Legacy Management’s regulatory obligations, protecting health and the environment. This exempt, full-time role is based in Morgantown, WV with potential remote options and 0–10% travel.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science or related field with 15 years of relevant experience and a strong knowledge of UMTRCA, NEPA, RCRA, CWA, and CAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field; experience in lieu of education will be considered.
  • 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare site/project specific environmental compliance planning documentation.
  • Review and evaluate proposed actions under environmental laws.
  • Identify and interpret regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory compliance reports.
  • Review and respond to regulatory changes, data calls, and directives for DOE LM.
  • Conduct policy and compliance reviews and assessments.
  • Coordinate internal reviews, document production, and submissions.
  • Ensure EMS sustainability and compliance targets are achieved.

Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist who will provide regulatory compliance knowledge in support of Legacy Management’s (LM) obligation to protect human health and the environment and their post-closure obligation for long-term surveillance and maintenance.

Job Title: Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist
Location(s): Morgantown,WV;Remote work arrangements may be available based on business needs and candidate qualifications.
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

This position is required to travel between 0 to 10% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare site/project specific environmental compliance planning documentation.
  • Review and evaluate proposed actions in accordance with applicable environmental laws.
  • Identify and interpret regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory compliance reports.
  • Review and submit responses to proposed regulatory changes, data calls, and directives in support of DOE LM.
  • Conduct policy and compliance reviews and assessments.
  • Coordinate internal reviews, final document production, and submittals.
  • Integrate and participate in processes that ensure Environmental Management System (EMS) sustainability and compliance targets and goals are recognized and achieved.
  • Track progress of requirements until completion and ensure schedules are updated and documents are entered into team and client document tracking systems.
  • Update team and processes based on regulation changes and agency protocols and requirements.
  • Travel to project sites when necessary.
  • Complete assigned training and weekly timesheet in a timely fashion.
  • Support LM through executing its environmental program and complying with federal and state laws and regulations; and providing technical document review, research and development analysis support, facilitation services and meeting support for all environmental requirements.

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
  • 15 years of relevant experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • No professional certification required.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Broad understanding of principles, concepts, and techniques in environmental science and regulatory compliance related to UMTRCA, NEPA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, and natural resources laws and regulations.
  • Experience gathering data necessary to complete compliance reports, plans, and environmental permits.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction.

Essential Physical Requirements

Sedentary: Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
