Job Description

Atlas is seeking a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to provide technical leadership, project oversight, and client-focused environmental compliance consulting services. This role serves as a Northeast Regional Environmental Compliance subject matter expert, supporting multimedia regulatory compliance programs while mentoring staff, managing client projects, and contributing to business development initiatives. This role supports a diverse portfolio of public‑ and private‑sector clients, including municipal, educational, and government agencies, as well as commercial, industrial, retail, energy, and real estate organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a regional environmental compliance subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and regulatory interpretation to project teams and clients
• Manage and oversee environmental compliance projects ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
• Provide QA/QC reviews of technical reports, plans, permit applications, and proposals
• Lead environmental compliance audits, regulatory applicability reviews, and corrective actions
• Prepare and review environmental permits and compliance programs across air, hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, SPCC, and AST/UST programs
• Support and audit Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including ISO 14001‑based programs
• Collaborate on business development, including proposals, SOQs, and client interviews
• Mentor and train junior and mid-level staff

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline; Master’s preferred
• 10+ years of environmental compliance experience with project leadership responsibilities
• Expertise in federal, state, and local regulations (RCRA, CAA, NPDES, DOT)
• Multi‑state, multi‑media compliance consulting experience
• Professional licensure or certification preferred (PE, CHMM, CSP, MA TURP)
• Strong project management, technical writing, and communication skills
• Ability to travel approximately 20%
