Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Environmental Engineer in Business Operations to develop and manage organization-wide environmental programs, ensuring regulatory compliance while enabling aggressive project timelines.

The role serves as SME for environmental risks and coordinates with regulators and engineering teams. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in environmental/regulatory programs, with hands-on experience in SWPPP, SPCC, and wastewater permitting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental programs and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Experience with SWPPP, BMPs, SPCC, and industrial wastewater permitting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interpret technical data.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and improve environmental programs at SpaceX.
• Serve as SME for site environmental partners and engineers.
• Maintain compliance with EPA and state regulations; support regulatory reporting.
• Track and interpret new environmental laws; guide management.
• Perform environmental audits and maintain regulatory calendars and records.
• Audit SWPPP/SPCC plans, hazardous materials business plans, and wastewater permits.
• Coordinate permitting and testing; manage contractors and submittals.
• Assist EHS team with site compliance as needed.
• Build positive relationships with regulators and internal teams.
