Job summary

Ascot Group is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to join the Environmental Claims Team in Chicago. The role focuses on first- and third-party environmental and construction professional liability claims, with exposure to mold, toxic torts, and long-tail environmental claims. Requires 4+ years of casualty claims experience and applicable licenses.

Responsibilities include end-to-end claims handling, coverage analysis, and collaboration with counsel and underwriting. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of casualty claims experience handling environmental liability and construction professional liability claims.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple client projects.
• Licensed adjusters or willingness to obtain licenses where needed.
• Bachelor’s Degree required; JD preferred for advanced roles.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end management of primary and excess liability claims per policy coverage.
• Analyze coverage issues and prepare comprehensive letters for claims handled.
• Review contracts and indemnity provisions to determine defense and recovery.
• Collaborate with outside counsel for cost-effective litigation strategies.
• Negotiate settlements within designated authority; present trends to stakeholders.
• Maintain oversight of outside vendors and billing practices.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations, trials, and client meetings as needed.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and attend broker/client meetings.
