Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) seeks a Server & Storage Engineering leader with deep enterprise compute/storage expertise to drive modernization and consolidation across mainframe, midrange, and x86 environments. You will shape hybrid infrastructure and cloud-readiness while designing scalable, cost-efficient architectures.

Ideal candidates bring experience in AI-assisted capacity analysis, multi-cloud orchestration with AWS/Azure/GCP, and a track record of enterprise-scale migrations and platform

Qualifications

• 8-12+ years of enterprise server/storage engineering in consulting or advisory delivery.
• Demonstrated experience leading server consolidation or legacy platform migration programs at enterprise scale.
• Deep understanding of mainframe economics and modernization trade-offs (rehost, replatform, refactor, retire).
• Federal infrastructure experience preferred - transformation in regulated environments is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree required; vendor certifications (IBM, Dell/EMC, NetApp, VMware) valued.
• Comfortable with travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Lead server and storage assessments - inventory analysis, utilization profiling, age/EOL mapping, platform rationalization.
• Develop legacy platform retirement roadmaps with decommission timelines and migration paths.
• Analyze resource utilization to identify rightsizing and consolidation opportunities.
• Design target-state compute/storage architectures balancing cost, performance, availability, and security.
• Assess workload placement options across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud.
• Integrate findings into A&M's broader engagement scope and deliverables.
• Support practice development through internal training and thought leadership.
